Miriam Leung-che Lau is currently a lecturer at Hong Kong Baptist University, and she specialises in performance studies, Shakespeare, digital humanities, and ESL teaching. She obtained her PhD from the Shakespeare Institute at the University of Birmingham. She is a member of the International Shakespeare Conference and a trustee of the Foreign Theatre Association at Nanjing Normal University. She has co-authored Teaching Shakespeare to ESL Students: The Study of Language Arts in Four Major Plays (Springer, 2017) and a monograph on The Making of Hong Kong Shakespeare: Post-1997 Adaptations and Appropriations (Palgrave, 2026). Awarded a grant from the research grant council of Hong Kong, she is the chair of the Hong Kong International Shakespeare Conference held at Hong Kong Baptist University in April 2026, which was the first Shakespeare conference in the city after the 1997 handover.
